Brief Information:

The Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI) came into existence on 27th October 1986 for development and regulation of inland waterways for shipping and navigation. The Authority primarily undertakes projects for development and maintenance of IWT infrastructure on national waterways through grant received from Ministry of Shipping. The head office of the Authority is at Noida. The Authority also has its regional offices at Patna, Kolkata, Guwahati and Kochi and sub-offices at Allahabad, Varanasi, Farakka, Sahibganj, Haldia, Swroopganj, Hemnagar, Dibrugarh, Dhubri, Silchar, Kollam, Bhubaneshwar  and Vijayawada.

India has about 14,500 km of navigable waterways which comprise of rivers, canals, backwaters, creeks, etc. About 133.03 Million Metric Tonnes(MMT) of cargo is being moved anually by Inland Water Transport (IWT), a fuel – efficient and environment -friendly mode. Its operations are currently restricted to a few stretches in the Ganga-Bhagirathi-Hooghly rivers , the Brahmaputra, the Barak river, the rivers in Goa, the backwaters in Kerala, inland waters in Mumbai and the deltaic regions of the Godavari – Krishna rivers. Besides these organized operations by mechanized vessels, country boats of various capacities also operate in various rivers and canals. and substantial quantum of cargo and passengers are transported in this unorganized sector as well.

Desirable:

Driver		i) Matriculation Pass Certificate or equivalent from a recognized Board/ University.
ii) Certificate of competency as Licence Engine Driver
iii) Should know swimming.
Desirable: Preference will be given to Ex-Servicemen/ Coast Guard/Para-Military Forces personnel with required Certificate of Service issued by the Competent Authority.

Office

Degree in Commerce from recognized university with 3 years experience of cash, Commercial Accounting and Budget work in Central/State Govts./ Statutory or Autonomous bodies/ Public Sector Undertakings.   OR

Degree in Commerce from a recognized University with Inter ICWA/Inter CA

05/24Dredge Control Operatori) Matriculation Pass Certificate or equivalent from a recognized Board/ University.
ii) Certificate of competency as Driver 1st class with 10 years’ experience in the Grade or Petty Officer from Technical Branch of Indian Navy having one year experience in the Grade; or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering with experience of one year in operation of dredgers; and
iii) Should Knowledge of swimming.
Desirable: Experience in operation and maintenance of Dredgers Preference will be given to Ex-Servicemen/ Coast Guard/ Para-Military Forces personnel with the required Certificate of Service issued by the Competent Authority.
06/24Store KeeperMatriculation or equivalent with 5 years experience in stores, handling, spares, equipments etc.
Desirable : (i) Degree of recognized university or its equivalent. (ii) Knowledge of Accountancy Book-Keeping and Typewriting.

08/24Staff Car Driver(a) Should posses a valid and unendorsed driving licence, should also have good experience driving for atleast 2 years and atleast an elementary knowledge of Motor Mechanism.
